Birdie Gets Lost Unloading Lambs

On January 19th, 2026 Birdie took off from her owners while they were unloading lambs in Mitchell, Nebraska. This was unusual for her. Someone suggested she contact us on January 23rd, when they had no luck capturing her. I networked to find someone closer to help them if needed on the ground but we had no luck so we began gathering info for coaching. At this point there had been zero sightings of Birdie. On January 23rd they would get their first sights on her themselves. The owner slipped up and called to her, she looked her direction, but the sister began hollering for her and she bolted. They also attempted to follow her tracks and lost her. When the owner gave me this information we immediately discussed the do’s and don’ts. We went over calming signals and what the next steps would be. The owner asked about a trap, and I explained I didn’t think we were at that point just yet and why that would not be my recommendation at this time. They went out the morning of the 24th with this knowledge and I asked her to have sister stay in the vehicle and watch because I wasn’t sure if she would flee again or not due to the day priors actions. At 351pm I got the text that they had her. She had been walking along train tracks when her brother in law spotted her and dropped low to the ground and softly spoke to her, she came right to him. She did have some injuries that needed attention but she was ok!
