Nami was traveling down I-80 with her family on 9/29/2024 when they were involved in a rollover accident. She had last been seen running to the southwest. Her family searched and searched for many days without any luck. They followed up on every potential sighting but she was gone before they would arrive. Nami continued to return towards the crash site daily (they left a blanket tied to the fence line at the scene). The morning before she was captured, her family had seen her laying under the billboard sign but by the time they got to the other side of the interstate she had left. The family found us on 10/4 & asked us if we could bring our trap out. Normally we don’t do this until there is a feeding station & proof of the target eating on camera, but we read on a post that Nami is on heart meds & needed to be located sooner rather than later. We agreed to go out and set up.
After we got the trap set we went around to another side road & looked at her prints to see if we could determine where she might have been going to hide. We had no signs of her on camera that night or the next morning. What we did see was a 4 wheeler riding to the east in the field by our trap at 8am. I alerted the family who were just across the highway. At this same time the landowner said she seen her in the field just southeast of the trap. The 4 wheeler spooked her out of the field. Owners had looped south to see what they could see and Nami crossed the road a ways in front of them but was lost in a tree line. We got posters done & hung them in spots where all the locals would see them coming/going, while the family ran back to Pine Bluffs for a bit. At 4:05pm we got the text that she was caught. Ty had gone down into that area where he located some abandoned trailers and peeked around. She was in those trailers!
This family had will and determination, they were out daily taking shifts trying desperately to locate Nami. They never once gave up & they ultimately got her home. Leaving that blanket at the scene kept her close by! We wish Nami and her entire family healing vibes & we are so glad they are reunited & whole again 🙂
