On February 19th, 2024 Whiskey Jean managed to escape from her owners. She was last seen with a tan harness on and sporting a leash on her adventure. There would be a couple of sightings, but the very last sighting would be that night. She was seen in Sun Valley and then seemed to vanish. Her owners followed up and searched the area, with zero luck. There would be no sightings for almost a month. We were concerned she was caught on something or had possibly been hit by a train since her last sighting was near a field & railroad tracks. This was not the case, she just had immediately began traveling between midnight & 6am. On 3/15 a lovely human named Stefanie asked if Whiskey had been found and saw a similar dog in her backyard in Sun Valley. We worked to network and try to gain footage from nearby homes. We were able to locate footage & owners confirmed it was her.
On 3/16 they asked us about placing a trap & we were ready to help. We loaded up around 5pm and headed over. We unloaded & were setting up when Whiskey made an appearance. She was hiding in a little fenced corner area. She went through a downed gate into a yard she could not escape as we had owners block the only exit. We then coached them on what to do for a hand capture & after roughly 30 minutes of coaxing, calming signals, and food bribe – she came up close enough to leash her. We placed her in the trap and carried her back to the front yard and loaded her into her owners vehicle. Her owners, Kimberly & Danielle, did a phenomenal job! Whiskey did a great job as well & we are proud of her bravery today!
